Roger Deakins is one of my all time favorite cinematographers. His work with the Coen brothers ranks as some of the most vivid and stylised sculpiting of light I've ever seen.
Thanks to Arri and IBC he did an interview last weekend where he openly discussed the reality that Film is on the way out and digital is the future for Hollywood. Deakins just finished shootimng teh new James Bond film 'Skyfall' on the Arri Alexa.
Deakins was an early adoptor of DI (digital Intermediate ) first using it on The Shawshank Redemption in 1994 so he is no stranger to digital woprksflows. However acquiring digitally is a relatively new world for Roger who has shot over 50 movies on film.
