Client story
How Arch Creative quadrupled its turnover and doubled its profit in under a year
Tim ran Arch Creative in Melbourne as a one-man band and was the bottleneck in his own business. He got off the tools, repositioned with the clients he already had, and inside a year quadrupled his turnover and doubled his profit.
Where Tim started
Tim was a skilled operator stuck in the classic freelancer trap: do everything yourself to keep the money in, and become the ceiling on your own business in the process. Shooting, editing, admin, sales, all of it ran through him. That kept capacity capped and the calendar lived job to job.
The block wasn't effort, it was direction. In his own words: "I was blocked by my inability to see what was my next best step. I could see that I wanted to get from here to over there, but I couldn't work out, should I take this step or this step."
The move
One structural change did the heavy lifting: Tim got off the tools. He put an editor on contract, which freed the hours he'd been pouring into the timeline and let him work on the business instead of in it.
That freed time went into the relationships he already had. Rather than chasing cold leads, he reconnected with lapsed clients and led with questions about what they actually needed, positioning himself as a trusted advisor rather than a camera for hire. Same clients, a different conversation, a different rate.
Underneath it, the shift was identity, not tactics. Tim stopped being, in his words, "a dude with a video camera" and started running a business.
“I'm a lot more confident at running a business, rather than just being a dude with a video camera. I feel like a business owner now.”

The result
Getting off the tools also bought Tim steady work ("I'm not living from job to job. There's always work coming in") and presence with his young family, the outcome he actually wanted the business to pay for.
